In the heat of the desert
A plant cannot grow
Except for a flower
It's that red desert rose
Her petals are soft
And her stem is so strong
Planted long, long ago
And she's lasted so long
For two generations
She's stayed firm in the ground
Not even wilting
When the sun's heat beat down
Her petals of beauty
Are not seen from afar
Her leaves are not pruned back
Oh, how lovely they are
