A Poem Of Remembrance

Sitting here among the honored

On this hollowed day

We take the time to remember them

And the lives they gave

They’ve stood for freedom throughout the world

Giving all they had

Someone’s son or daughter, sister, brother

Perhaps a mom or dad

Now they lie with honor beneath Old Glory

A symbol for the free

As I sit here I feel so honored.

That they’d give their lives for me.

So I’ll try each day to live a life

Worthy of the cost

Knowing freedom isn’t free

In it’s name men’s lives were lost

I guess right now It’s all have

These few heartfelt lines

That I might write here among these solders

Who for me gave their lives
